Bookcases

There are many different forms of bookcases to match every size of space and any interior scheme. You can decide whether to chose one with doors that lock (either glazed or "blind" without doors) or one that has no doors for easy access to the books - referred to as an "open" bookcase. Bookcases dating from the late nineteenth century sometimes have glazed lower doors as well as uppers. These can be a hazard for small children. Pre-Victorian bookcases are unlikely to have glazed lower doors. Bookcases can be used for many things other than books, consider a bookcase for displaying china, glass or booze in the dining room, for instance, or your collection of collectables, old Country Life or Interiors magazines, or even a music system in the drawing room.
